The Campaign to keep Waiheke's Waste Resources in local hands was lost to the decision makers in Auckland City Council in July 2009.

The people of Waiheke Island however still hold true their intention to do things better: to reduce, reuse and recycle their waste, to support local community efforts and realise that together, people are greater than they are just by themselves. Community Supported Agriculture, UNESCO Biospheres etc...
